The new Microfarm Project Nicaragua Nueva Segovia comes from the Valladarez family, which has been cultivating coffee for 66 years. They hold a prominent position in the history of specialty coffee in Nicaragua and are the largest producer of Maracaturra in the world, a variety considered the jewel of Nicaragua.
The Valladarez family is widely known and highly acclaimed for the exceptional quality of the varieties it cultivates on its 10 farms in Nicaragua, located in the northwest of the country. Over the past 20 years, they have developed and implemented innovative and sustainable cultivation and processing practices, which they follow to maintain a harmonious balance between the environment and the product. What characterizes the Valladarez family is the fermentation method they have developed for each of their varieties, which imparts stability and precision to the aromatic and flavor profiles.
